Hester’s Granite Co.

Hester’s Granite Quarry was founded in the late 1940’s by Mr. Leland Hester. Mr. Hester operated the quarry until 1978 when he sold it to the current owners, Mr. Joel Cloud and his business partner.

The quarry property is 94 acres of which approx 70 are involved in the active quarry operations. The quarry has several million tons of reserves and well be operational for at least the next 20 years.  The properties vested  “grandfathered rights”  allow for the mining of the construction aggregate and the recycling of concrete and asphalt that occurs on the property.

The mining and recycling operations are currently leased to Robertson’s Ready Mix (San Diego plant #96) Hester’s looks forward to a long term relationship with our tenant

In 2013  San Diego County has 12 operating quarries of which 6 have “Vested Rights”.  The County had 24 operating quarries in 1995. The County of San Diego has granted only one permit for a quarry in the past 20 year.
